Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the I Adore Pets app
What is this app for?
This app helps you manage your full pet care routine in one place, including pet profiles, stray animal records, care tasks, inventory, budget tracking, weekly plans, and reminders.
Who is this app made for?
It is designed for pet owners, rescuers, foster caregivers, and anyone who wants a simple way to organize daily animal care, supplies, and related spending.
What can I track inside the app?
You can track pets, stray animals, care tasks, inventory items, budget activity, weekly planner entries, profile photos, and notifications linked to upcoming tasks or plans.
Can I manage both owned pets and stray animals?
Yes. The app separates records by status, so you can manage both owned pets and stray animals while still keeping everything inside one system.
What appears on the dashboard?
The dashboard gives you a quick overview of your pet care world, including pet totals, stray totals, completed and pending tasks, remaining budget, recent pets, low inventory, recent transactions, weekly plans, and unread notifications.
Can I add photos?
Yes. The app includes photo slots on the dashboard so you can personalize your space with pet-related images.
How do pet profiles work?
Each pet record can include core details such as name, type, and status, and the app uses those records throughout the interface for task labels, dashboard summaries, and pet-specific organization.
What pet types are supported?
The app includes icons and handling for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, and an "other" option for anything outside the main categories.
How do care tasks work?
You can create care tasks for things like feeding, vet visits, grooming, and medication, then view them in a list sorted by completion state and due date.
Can tasks be linked to a specific pet?
Yes. Tasks can be attached to a specific pet, and when they are, the app shows the related pet name and icon to make the task easier to understand at a glance.
What happens when a task is overdue?
The app marks past-due tasks as overdue in its relative date display, helping you quickly identify what needs attention first.
Can I mark tasks as completed?
Yes. The app tracks completed versus pending tasks and reflects that status in both the task list and the dashboard counters.
What is the inventory section for?
The inventory section helps you keep track of pet-related items such as food, treats, supplies, grooming products, medication, and other essentials.
Does the app warn me about low stock?
Yes. Inventory items are checked against their threshold values, and low-stock items appear in the dashboard so you can restock before running out.
What is the budget feature used for?
The budget section lets you track available funds, spending, deductions, and budget history so you can stay aware of how much money remains for pet care.
Can I record both added funds and expenses?
Yes. You can add funds to the budget or deduct money from it, and each action is stored in the transaction history with labels, timestamps, and amounts.
Can I search my transactions?
Yes. The app supports transaction search and date filtering, which makes it easier to find specific spending records or budget updates.
What is the weekly planner for?
The weekly planner is built for scheduling recurring or one-time care activities across the week, using time blocks arranged by day and hour.
How does the planner display scheduled items?
Planner entries are shown as visual blocks on a weekly time grid, with each block displaying the plan title, its time range, and a short description when available.
Will the app remind me about upcoming tasks or plans?
Yes. The notification system creates reminders for unfinished tasks with due dates and for planner entries that match your reminder window.
Where do notifications appear?
Notifications appear in the notifications section, and unread counts are also reflected in the interface so you can quickly see what still needs attention.
Can I mark notifications as read?
Yes. The app allows unread notifications to be marked as read individually.
Does the app save my data automatically?
Yes. Your app data is saved using IndexedDB, which means your records are stored locally in the browser on the device you use.
Will my data stay if I close the browser?
Normally yes, because the app reloads its saved state from IndexedDB when you come back.
Can I export my data?
Yes. The settings area includes an export option so you can back up your app data as a JSON file.
Can I import a backup later?
Yes. The settings area also includes an import option for restoring data from a previously saved JSON backup.
Can I change the currency symbol?
Yes. You can choose from built-in currency options like dollar, euro, and pound, or enter another symbol manually in settings.
Can I change the display name?
Yes. The app includes an edit profile flow where the display name can be updated.
What happens if I clear all data?
Clearing all data permanently removes pets, inventory, tasks, notifications, planner entries, photos, budget data, and other saved app state, so it should only be used when you truly want a fresh start.
Is this app made for simple daily use?
Yes. The interface is built around quick summaries, empty states, editable lists, and visual sections that make it practical for regular use without feeling overly technical.
